A Swedish Gustavian style painted seating group from the mid-20th century, comprising a sofa and matching pair of side chairs. The set reflects the restrained elegance of late 18th-century Swedish design, with neoclassical lines, softened ornamentation, and a light painted finish that gives the pieces an airy, understated presence.
Each frame features classic Gustavian detailing, including fluted legs, turned elements, and delicately carved accents. The proportions are generous yet refined, allowing the set to anchor a room without feeling heavy.
The upholstery introduces a romantic European sensibility through a muted palette of soft stripes and floral patterning, offering subtle visual texture while remaining versatile. The sofa is finished with cylindrical bolster pillows at each arm, adding both comfort and symmetry, while the chairs echo the same decorative language with open slat backs and upholstered seats.
Well suited for a formal sitting room, bedroom arrangement, or layered, collected interior.
Condition is consistent with age and use, including minor surface wear to the painted finish such as light scuffs and marks. Upholstery shows wear including minor staining and light fading.
