    What is it?
    A small French neoclassical side table in figured mahogany — brass gallery rail, parquetry star top, tapered legs with brass sabots. 18 inches across.

    Where did it come from?
    France, early 20th century. Won at Austin Auction Gallery, January 2026.

    Why did I choose it?
    Six bidders were watching it at auction — the market agreed it was worth more than the estimate. The figured mahogany does something interesting in light, and the scale is exactly right for beside a chair or at the end of a sofa.

    Condition:
    Good. Brass hardware original. Surface shows light age-appropriate wear.
