What it is
A 1989 Joseph B. O'Sickey ink and watercolor on paper titled “Birds of Prey with Peacocks,” from the artist's Zoo series. It is signed and dated lower right and has the expressive, slightly playful energy that makes O'Sickey's work so distinctive.
Why I bought it
This piece has personality immediately. The birds, peacocks, and loose watercolor movement give it a collected, slightly unexpected feeling. It is decorative in the best way: interesting, alive, and not too serious.
How to use it
Hang it as a small statement in a gallery wall, library, powder room, bedroom, or sitting area. It would be especially good with patterned textiles, old books, painted furniture, or antique pieces that need a bit of color and wit.
