Neoclassical Gilt Bronze Lyre & Green Jasperware Table Lamp
The kind of lamp that makes a room feel like it has a library, even if it doesn't.
This American neoclassical table lamp — dating to the mid-to-late 20th century — is a study in restrained grandeur. A fluted oval base in gilded brass rises through a candlestick neck into an elegant lyre form, its scrolling curved arms framing the piece with the kind of architectural confidence you only find in objects that were made to last. The hardware is warm, substantial, and quietly assertive.
The centerpiece is a green Wedgwood-style jasperware medallion set into the lyre — deep sage green with a white bas-relief Greco-Roman figure in profile. It's the detail that elevates this from decorative to genuinely interesting. Jasperware at this scale, in this context, reads as collected rather than decorated.
In working order and ready to light a room. One lyre string is absent — a minor imperfection that, honestly, only adds to the character. The Romans weren't perfect either.
Ideal for a library, study, bedroom, or any interior that takes its references seriously.
Dimensions: H 24.75" × W 4.45" × L 6" Origin: USA, Mid–Late 20th Century Condition: Working order. One lyre string missing.
