What is it?
A Gustavian-style kitchen sofa (approx. 71" long) with four matching chairs. Original pale paint, hand-carved details, the kind of restraint that only comes from Swedish farmhouse furniture made to last generations.
Where did it come from?
From a private estate outside Stockholm. This set hasn't left the same kitchen in over a century. The kind of pieces families kept because they were too good to replace.
Why did I choose it?
The proportions. Narrow enough for a kitchen (21" deep) but substantial enough to anchor a room. The original paint shows its age—faded where hands touched it, worn where bodies sat. That's not damage. That's proof it was used and loved.
Condition:
Honest wear throughout. Paint loss, scratches, stains—all the marks of a working kitchen. The wood is solid. The joints are tight. This set has another hundred years in it.
Curator's note
Chosen for that restrained Swedish feeling: pale surface, graceful scale, and quiet old-world character.
