Why I bought it

A full set of eight chairs is always worth paying attention to, especially when the detail is this good. These late 20th century mahogany dining chairs have a Greek key border across the crest rail, which gives the whole set a crisp neoclassical edge.

I like that they feel formal enough for a dining room, but not precious. The mahogany frames, turned legs, and patterned upholstery make them easy to mix with antiques, painted pieces, or a more layered collected room.

Details

  • Set of 8 dining chairs
  • Mahogany frames with Greek key border detail
  • Late 20th century
  • Upholstered seats and backs in a gold patterned fabric
  • Approximate dimensions: 41.25 in. high x 20 in. wide x 21.5 in. deep
  • Seat height: approx. 21.5 in.

Condition

Vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. Expect minor marks, finish variation, and wear consistent with use. Upholstery appears serviceable but may be updated if you want a more custom designer look. Please review photos closely.

How I would use it

Use the full set around a dining table, split them between a dining room and game table, or recover them in a stripe, chintz, mohair, or plain linen to make the Greek key border feel even sharper. They are a strong choice for someone building a polished traditional room with a little architectural punctuation.

Curator's note

Chosen for its patina, scale, and the way it can make a newer room feel collected over time.
